A famous Hindu mythological character named Harishchandra following the path of truthfulness all through his life became famous as ‘Satyavadi Harishchandra' whom many people admire and often quote to be a great man. He became an ideal for thinkers of the same line who spend their entire lives adhering to the path of truth and justice.
On the other hand, in the light of true spiritual knowledge, certain hidden facts have been revealed about King Harishchandra’s life as mentioned in Sachhidanand Ghan Brahm's speech not known to devotee society to date, revealing which will be the focus of this write-up.
As certified in the most authentic scriptures of all means in Suksham Veda, Satan Brahm Kaal is the owner of 21 universes. The earth where we live belongs to him and this is a realm where beings are tortured, cheated and punished no matter if they may be honest and true. There is no trace of happiness here and creatures get rewarded or are punished based on their Karma.
As is well known that vices prevail in the realm of Kaal with which not just humans but even deities aren’t untouched. The true story of King Harishchandra will prove how an innocent and true soul became prey to Kaal who ruined his virtues and kept him trapped in his web.

What Was King Harishchandra Famous For?
Harishchandra was a God-fearing noble King of the ancient kingdom of Ayodhya in Satyuga, the golden age. He belonged to the Surya dynasty and adhered to truth all through his life no matter whatever troubles he faced but no one could defeat him in honesty. He remained firm in his commitment. He was a great donor and never used to lie.
The following speech from Suksham a Veda certifies the same.
Garib, Harishchandra Hari hitam, Ayodhya nagri rehte। Satyug Sindh samadh vachan, sat hi sat kehte।।
Demi-Gods Of Kaal Got Jealous Of Harishchandra
Jealousy, hunger for fame, ego and the like are the vices prevalent in beings in Brahm Kaal's realm. The demigods also possess these vices. King Harishchandra was so highly glorified for his truthfulness that even the deities in Heaven in Brahm Kaal’s realm got jealous of him. Deities called for a meeting with the agenda to dissolve the truthfulness of King Harishchandra.
Garib, sur nar muni jan dev sev, sakal mun nahi bhaya। Sab muni Kari filaad suno tum tribhuvan raya।।
The deities went to Lord Vishnu who was the revered God of Satyavadi Harishchandra and discussed their issue with him. The deities said they wanted to examine Harishchandra since he remains firm on his truth and commitment.
Garib, sat bhakhe sat hi Kahe, sat hi Pooja dhyan, sat hi Sara Karam hai, sat ke chale viman।।
Garib, sur nar muni jan dev, filaad lagayee bhari, suno vishambhar nath, Harishchandra hai adhikari||
Garib, Kahe Vishambhar Nath suno, Kya keejey deva। Veh Harishchandra satleen karat hai Sabki sewa।।
Garib, Harishchandra ka pativrat tare nahi taarya bhai||
Vo satavadi Sant Rahe humri sharnaayee।।
Shri Vishnu Ji said he is in my shelter. He cannot lie.
Garib, bolat hai rishidev jaat hai humri padayee। Suno Sahans bhuj naath, karat hai hum unki badahee।।
Lord Indra, the King of Heaven got tensed of losing his post. He said ‘if Harishchandra will remain firm on truth then we will have to offer him the post of a deity. We will misbehave with him, will harass him intending to dissolve his truth.
Garib, gann gandharv Sab dev sakal mein uncha kohe। Leejay tahee bula Harishchandra taar jo devey।।
Lord Vishnu said 'he is in my refuge. He won’t deviate from his truth. You may try'.
Garib, narad muni rishidev kahe sun tribhuvan nathaa। Harishchandra sat na javey tumre sang vidhata।।
Narad Muni the son of Lord Brahma was called. He was sensible and knew well that Harishchandra was the worshipper of Satogun Vishnu. No one can dissolve the truthfulness of Harishchandra hence, he silently leaves.
Vishwamitra Took Initiative To Harass Harishchandra
Vishwamitra was one of the seven Brahmarishi/ Rajrishi. Then he was called.
Garib, Vishwamitra gojh, dheel lave na koi।
Harishchandra ka sat diga, pakad lavat hai soyee।।
Garib, vishwamitra arj kare, vo kis ko dukhdayee। Sur nar muni jan dev, Saban ne chuglee khayee।।
This nectar speech of respected Sant Garib Das Ji reveals the low character of demigods in Kaal's realm. Deities got jealous of a true man. Heaven is believed to be the ultimate attainable abode by devotees but the truth is that gods in heaven are always scared of losing their post hence, adopt unfair means to save their position.
Respected Sant Garib Das Ji was the eye-witness of God Kabir who showed him the eternal abode Satlok hence, Garib Das Ji says ‘he has also seen Heaven but did not like it. The happiness in Heaven stands nowhere in front of the happiness of Satlok’.
Garib, sun mandal ko kiya piyana, yo Kaal Karam sab bhagya।।
Then all the deities collectively complained to Vishwamitra who took the initiative to harass and dissolve the truth of Harishchandra. Although, Vishwamitra did ask the reason ‘Why do you trouble Harishchandra?’.
Garib, sabe kahe rishidev, Harishchandra do digayee। Vishwamitra aan bheeda, Jo liya uthayee।
Garib, aabiya taabiya traas dijiyo humre taanhee।
These are three types of harassment that the sages silently do to people.
Garib, pakad laaun Harishchandra, Palak na dheel lagayee।
Garib, jab dayee do traas kahe bhaktan ke ishaa।
Vishwamitra came from Heaven to harass Harishchandra.
Why Did Harishchandra Sell His Wife And Son?
Vishwamitra jab diya, kiya mritlok piyana। Dhare roop baraha, Bagh mailaa dhimtaanaa।।
Sage Vishwamitra acquired the form of a wild swine and uprooted the beautiful garden of King Harishchandra. The Gardner tried to stop the wild swine. The soldiers hit the arrows but all their efforts went in vain. King Harishchandra was informed of the deed of swine. He went on a horse carrying a fire bow and arrow along with his soldiers. Seeing Harishchandra arriving, Vishwamitra in swine form ran away. Harishchandra chased the swine but Vishwamitra changed his swine-form and acquired the form of a Brahmin. The King asked ‘a swine came here, where is he?’. Vishwamitra denied saying he had no idea.
Vishwamitra prepared a boy and a girl with his accomplishment. He brings the girl to the King and says ‘O Kshatriya! Be a Vipr. This is a poor Brahmin girl who is to be married. No one could arrange her marriage expenses. You are a King, have mercy.
Then the boy was called and both were married. Vishwamitra asked Harishchandra to do ‘Kanyadaan'. King gave seven Asharfi. Vishwamitra got annoyed saying ‘You are a King. You are giving only seven Asharfi. I will curse you. Harishchandra said ‘I came in a hurry. Therefore, I am not carrying enough. Come along with me to my Kingdom. I will give more as you would demand'. Vishwamitra took the commitment to give him in writing his entire Kingdom. Without any hesitation, Harishchandra gave in writing his whole property, his Kingdom to the Brahman.
Both of them sat on the horse and marched towards the Kingdom. Vishwamitra sat behind holding Harishchandra since now the King was his slave. The soldiers saw a Brahman had caught our King. They raised weapons. But on the order of Harishchandra, they became quiet. Vishwamitra demanded 100 Asharfi to give 100 times.
Vishwamitra said ‘How would you give? You lose your commitment. Harishchandra said ‘I will earn and give'. Vishwamitra said ‘You will not be able to give even in ten years’. Finally, Harishchandra said 'Sell my wife and the only son. I will surely pay you'.
Vishwamitra crossed all limits and out of pride and jealousy caught hold of his Queen Taravati and brought her holding her hair. He even troubled the King a lot with his power, yet Harishchandra did not feel bad and remained firm in his commitment. Queen Taravati also supported her husband in sticking to his words and said we would prefer dying but not losing our commitment.
Vishwamitra established his throne in Ayodhya. Then he took the queen and son Rohtash to Kashi and sold her to a Brahman named Harheera in exchange for 50 Asharfi.
Harishchandra sold himself to a Sweeper (Bhangi) in a crematory in Kashi. His job was to clean the deceased and charge Rs.1.25/- for his work as a Tax.
Reward To Harishchandra By His Revered Lord Vishnu
A week passed but no dead body was brought to the crematory. King Harishchandra did not get any money and was hungry. His master Kalu/ Kalia noticed the honesty of Harishchandra and told him to eat food in one shop nearby for which his master Kalu will himself pay. Vishwamitra was not satisfied till here and continued his crooked attempt to dissolve the truth of Harishchandra. He acquired the form of a poor beggar Brahmin and asked for food from Harishchandra while he sat to eat food after one week. Harishchandra gave the whole. The second time as well Vishwamitra took the entire food and kept Harishchandra remain hungry.
Here, God Kabir says
Wo nar te moye jo par ghar mangan jaa||
Aur unte pehle wo mare jo ja mukh nikse naa||
Fifteen days passed but Harishchandra did not eat bread. His body became weak.
One day the queen Taravati came to the Ganga ghat to take water in a pot for her master Brahman. She could not lift the pot as it was very heavy hence, sought help from her husband Harishchandra who denied saying ‘he won’t touch the pot of a Brahman since he is untouchable (Bhangi)’.
Son Rohtash used to bring flowers for his master Brahmin every day who used to worship his respected deity with them. One day while Rohtash went to bring flowers, Vishwamitra acquired the form of a snake and bit him. Rohtash died. His master Brahman and mother got the information from the gardener and both came running. The Brahman started crying badly but the mother queen was strong and said ‘Here Hans keep coming and going. Do not cry. We all have to go one day. What was to happen has happened.
Harheera and mother wrapped the dead body in a shroud and took it to the crematory. Harishchandra came there and asked for Rs.1.25/- as tax since he is an employee and cannot spare money no matter if she may be his wife and Rohtash may be his son. It does not matter. She told her inability to pay. Harishchandra removed the shroud and threw the dead body in the water. The mother became crazy and started crying badly, tearing her hair.
Vishwamitra remained firm in his crooked efforts to harass Harishchandra. He blew a heavy storm. He prepared a Lion with his accomplishment who took away the dead body of Rohtash and tore it apart. The queen Taravati lamented and got crazy.
Vishwamitra further played foul and showed the queen the dead body of a young boy in blood eaten by the animal. He did so to mentally harass her. Vishwamitra had come along with soldiers and Nawab and called Kalia and Harishchandra to cut the neck of the queen. Kalia used to also work as a hangman. Kalia ordered Harishchandra, his slave, to cut the neck of the queen saying she was a witch.
As soon as Harishchandra raised the sword in the air to cut the neck of Taravati, Lord Vishnu held the sword from behind and said ‘Harishchandra! You are successful. Then Shri Vishnu appeared to Harishchandra and told him to ask for a boon. Initially, Harishchandra said he was satisfied with God's audience but when he was insisted he asked that ‘the entire Kashi should be liberated and his wife and son should become alive. Everyone in Kashi including animals, and birds should go to Heaven in an aeroplane. Lord Vishnu granted the same boon and all attained Heaven.
Respected Sant Garib Das Ji says that such steadfast devotees, such virtuous souls who remain firm in their truthfulness and commitment even facilitate the liberation of the whole town.
The following speeches from Sukshma Veda glorify the great soul of Harishchandra.
Speech No.70
Vashisht Vishwamitra aaye, Durvasa aur Chunak bulaye||70
Speech No.76
Jaide Payal Jung bajaye। Ajamail aur Harishchandra aaye।।76
Respected Sant Garib Das Ji Maharaj glorifies Sage Vishwamitra and King Harishchandra in these nectar speeches saying that these worshippers of Kaal Brahm were indeed great men who demonstrated greatness during their lifetime and are an example even today.
Sage Vishwamitra and Harishchandra etc were great devotees and powerful men. I salute them. These great men used to accomplish the tasks of their devotees whoever came under them.
Who Came First, Ram Or Harishchandra?
The king of ancient Ayodhya, Harishchandra was in Satyuga who belonged to the lineage of Lord Ram. Both belong to the Ikshvaku dynasty founded by the son of Lord Surya named Iskhvaku therefore, both are called 'Suryavanshi'. Harishchandra was an ancestor of Shri Ramchandra, who was the seventh incarnation of Harishchandra's revered deity Lord Vishnu. Ram was born to King Dashrath and Queen Kaushalya in Ayodhya in Treta Yuga. Hence proved that Harishchandra came before Shri Ram.
Soul Of Harishchandra Will Be Kalki Avatar In Kalyuga
The owner of 21 universes, Brahm Kaal plays foul with the children of Supreme God Kabir. First, he inspired his demi-gods to examine the truthfulness of Harishchandra and through Vishwamitra made his life hell. By remaining firm on his commitment and performing good deeds, Harishchandra gained virtues resulting in his attainment of Heaven. Heaven is a temporary dwelling place. At present the soul of King Harishchandra is relishing a comfortable life in Vishnu Lok. After his virtues will be finished Kaal will send him to earth in the third and last phase of Kalyuga, which means in grave Kalyuga. He will be famous as Kalki.
Respected Sant Garib Das Ji Maharaj has said in his nectar speech mentioned in Sukshama Veda
Yatharth Bhakti Bodh book, Speech No.118
NisHkalank ans Leela Kalandar kun maarsee।
Ardh laakh varsh baki Dane aur dooton ko singharsee।|118
Meaning :- In the end of Kaliyuga, the humans will be devoid of devotion, will be characterless, and inhumane. Then NeHkalank (Kalki) will incarnate in the form of the part of Vishnu Ji. He will kill a troublesome demon named Kalander. Then Kalki will kill the rest of the monsters, messengers, and cynics for 50 thousand years. (118)
Speech No.125
Keel kili kiliyam autaar kala, jeetan jung jhunjmal||
Aisa Purush aaya kehta hai Garib Das, Dilli mandal hoye vilas, NisHkalank raya।।125
Meaning :- In the end of Kalyug, NeHkalank (Kalki) named the 10th incarnation will come. He will be born in the house of Vishnu Dutt Sharma in Sambhal city. He will become the King of Delhi and will kill ungrateful people, will teach morality to virtuous and noble people.
The monsters and ungrateful people whom Kalki will kill will add on to his bad account. He will have to suffer those sins incurred, in the next human lives. This is how Brahm Kaal cheats the souls and deceives the children of God.
Important: Attainment of Heaven is temporary therefore, the soul of Harishchandra will be reborn. The same happens with souls who attain Brahm Lok. Such attainment is inferior (Gita 7:18)
Now, the question arises:-
- Is there any permanent place having gone where the souls do not come back in this deceased world?
- Can true and honest people like Harishchandra be permanently saved from sufferings and torture of Kaal?
- Can there be permanent salvation?
- If Yes, then how can salvation be attained?
- Who provides complete salvation?
Let's find out.
Who Will Provide Salvation To Harishchandra?
Complete salvation is attained by taking refuge of Satguru/ enlightened saint who provides true spiritual knowledge, tells the true devotion of Almighty Kabir, grants true salvation mantras.
Harishchandra was unfortunate to have not found a true guru who is familiar with the element of God. He performed arbitrary worship all through his life. He was the worshipper of Satogun Lord Vishnu who himself is navigating in the vicious cycle of birth-death and rebirth and has not attained liberation so how can his worshipers be liberated?
In spite of remaining firm on truthfulness and adhering to his commitment and performing auspicious deeds Harishchandra remained a prey to Satan Kaal. Had Harishchandra done true devotion to Param Akshar Brahm/ Satpurush and chanted the true salvation mantra as certified in Gita 17:23 (indicative) he would have attained the eternal abode Satlok instead of temporary Vishnu Lok.
In future, when the soul of Harishchandra will be born as a human being and will be fortunate enough to get the refuge of an enlightened saint and will do true devotion of Almighty Kabir by taking initiation from a genuine spiritual master then only will he become eligible to attain complete salvation.
Note: Only God Kabir is the provider of complete salvation and no demiGod of Kaal, including him.
Conclusion
The following conclusions are drawn from aforementioned facts
- Harishchandra’s truthfulness scared deities in Heaven due to which they harassed him.
- The low character of divinities is revealed which is the real face of Kaal's realm.
- Vishwamitra accumulated grave sins by torturing Harishchandra which he will suffer in next births. This happens with all creatures in Kaal's 21 universes.
- Vices dominate in Kaal's world. There is no space for truth.
- Harishchandra got reward for his honesty and truth. He attained Vishnu Lok but not complete salvation.
- Almighty Kabir is the provider of salvation..
Important: Almighty Kabir has presently incarnated on earth to liberate His beloved souls. He is playing a divine spectacle in the cover of Jagatguru Tattavdarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. Take initiation from him so as to attain complete salvation.
